This is the first annual Hullabaloo and we need you and your sensational voices to bring it to life!

Growing up in Nanaimo, I’ve always been in awe of the talent and community we are blessed with, and starting this year, I want to celebrate and elevate that incredible feature of our home. What better way to celebrate Nanaimo then a big musical party on the stage of the Port Theatre! RIGHT?

The foundation of our fair city are the people that inhabit it, and I can think of no better way of representing that than with the MOST AWESOME CHOIR EVER! So I need you, each and every one of you, to come out and sing with us!

Now down to brass tacks!

  1. This is a non-auditioned choir. All are welcome! Whether you’ve never sung before, or are a total pro, you are welcome to join us! If you have choral experience, GREAT, if not, YOU WILL SOON!
  2. You DO NOT need to read music! We will have music, for sure, but we will also have practice tracks that you can listen to, and use to learn your music by ear. Or just show up and listen to your neighbour! You’ll have it in no time.
  3. We are going to be singing lots of different styles. Whether that’s an 80’s medley, a folksy waltz, a musical theatre blitz, I guarantee there will be music you love, and music you can discover. Variety is the spice of life!
  4. At the show we will have a LIVE BAND! You’re going to be backed up by a quartet of some of Nanaimo’s finest musicians!
  5. This is an inclusive project. This may go without saying, but all are welcome regardless of orientation, gender expression, age, background. I promise you, personally, that all people are welcome.
  6. We’re going to have so much fun! I know that may be cheesy, but I want you all to know that this is first and foremost a musical party. That means we will be moving, shaking, hooting and hollering. You should be warned, I will be making a lot of cheesy jokes. Beyond that, come prepared to revel in musical merriment.

To all you beautiful humans reading this, know you’re invited to come sing, and I couldn’t be more excited to meet you for the first time, or see you again! Let’s get together and create something fun, memorable, and 100% homegrown organic awesome sauce.

Tuesday Rehearsals: April 29 thru June 17 (8 weeks) | 7:00 – 8:30 pm
Rehearsal Location: Brechin United Church 2020 Estevan Road, Nanaimo
Show: Friday June 20, 2025 7:30 p.m. The Port Theatre
Dress Rehearsal: Friday June 20: 2-5 p.m. (all performers must be present)

Choir Registration Fee: $200. (9 rehearsals)
Early Bird Registration: If you register before March 1, 2025 – you save 20% registration fee: $160.
50% is due upon receipt of invoice and balance is due April 15, 2025. A full refund will be offered up to the second rehearsal.
